Price For Solar Keeps Dropping

by Ed Tsunoda

The cost of both residential and utility scale solar energy is continuing to drop, according to multiple national reports. Three different reports showed costs drops ranging from 15-70% in both sectors, based on data from the 2013/2014 year to the previous year, as well as tests that compare cost to data as far back as 2008.

the installed cost of rooftop solar systems on residential and commercial projects completed in 2013 fell by roughly 70 cents per watt or 12 to 15 percent of the prior year, marking the fourth consecutive year of price drops.
